Men's Down Jackets

A down jacket is an insulated jacket filled with the soft under-feathers of ducks or geese. Down traps body heat more efficiently for its weight than any other natural insulator, which makes down jackets the warmest option for their weight and packed size.

Our collection includes lightweight packable jackets for layering, mid-weight puffer jackets for everyday wear, and heavyweight winter parkas for sub-zero days. All styles are available in men's and women's fits.

What is the best down jacket for winter?
For UK winters, a mid-weight puffer jacket with 650-800 fill power and a water-resistant shell suits most people. For temperatures below freezing, choose a longer, heavier-fill parka with a insulated hood.

What does fill power mean?
Fill power measures how much space one ounce of down fills. Higher numbers (650+) mean better insulation for less weight. Fill weight, the total amount of down in the jacket, also affects warmth.

Are down jackets waterproof?
Not by default. Down loses insulation when wet, so look for a water-resistant outer shell or hydrophobic-treated down if you'll be out in rain.

Down or synthetic: which is better?
Down is warmer, lighter and more compressible. Synthetic insulation performs better when wet and is usually cheaper. Choose down for cold, dry conditions and synthetic for damp weather.

How do you wash a down jacket?
Wash on a gentle cycle with a down-specific detergent, then tumble dry on low heat with clean tennis balls or dryer balls to restore loft.
